Parents Pot Holes and PTO's

It has been said that Michigan has two seasons-winter and road repair. This year apparently the two seasons have overlapped. The winter that would not end has created some pot holes you could lose your entire car within. To those of you who think I am "speaking a bit of blarney" I submit this:

The pot holes are so numberous and doing so much damage there is a waiting list to get tire rims and tires. SUV's and those "too cute" foreign cars have been hit the worse. Driving to work this year has been a real adventure. First record snowfall amounts, temperatures that do not allow the salt to melt on the roads, black ice, and then the car swallowing pot holes begin to appear. Just the other day I watched a car blow out their tire by landing in one!

Because I have such a long nail biting drive to work each day, I do get that blessed quiet time every parent longs for. This allows me to contemplate the universe and try to figure out how to navigate lifes pot holes as well. Anyone who has children can relate to running accross the unexpected pothole that can literally blow your tires out right underneath you. Those moments come upon us unexpectedly, find us unprepared, and challenge us to find creative ways to get out of the pothole life has thrown at us. My grandmother used to say that God never gives you more than you can handle-I am thinking God must also have a sense of humor I am just failing to recognize!

This past month's pot holes have included a OM coach who thinks each child should work individually and then the Best will be chosen. This sets one child up as the winner and the other 6 as losers. It has been painful to watch, and even more painful for Timmy to endure. The "team" is not a team at all-rather individuals competing with each other. The biggest pothole however will be endured by the one child who had all the winning ideas-his daughter. The team failure will end up being her failure...Sometimes you can do you best to navigate the potholes, replace the tires, and put a positive spin on things Then before you Know it-it is game over. A long winter indeed. ..heavy sigh

As sure as springs follows winter=the road department will patch those pesky pot holes while I patch up my child's damaged self esteem!

Is it Spring yet???

OMG- I laughed and then I cried. It sounds like little league for Nerds. Kel, there will always be parents who live through their kids! Get your child away from that group before the road repair truck smashes what it left of him. The write that SOB a goodbye note!

I love your kid-alll who know him do

Thanks,
Tim sent the entire team an email explaining that we were taking TIMMY OFF the so called "team". I am releaved!

I also sent an email of explanation to the regional directors. I'm sure we will just be PITA parents-but at least Tim had the guts to stand up to the guy! All the rest of the parents just complain behind his back!
